Liang's Nursery
Liang’s Nursery, established in 1992, is a testament to the resilience and dedication of Kenny Liang and his family. The farm was initially started by Kenny’s parents and older brother, who, after being laid off from their previous jobs, ventured into agriculture. This decision marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Liang family. Kenny joined the business in 1997, stepping into a pivotal role as his brother left the operation. During the late-1990s, the family expanded their operations by building more greenhouses, which was a significant step towards stabilizing and growing the business.
The initial focus of Liang’s Nursery was on flower farming. However, due to market pressures and the high costs associated with flower production, the family transitioned to vegetable farming. The transition from flower farming to vegetable farming was not just a strategic business move, but also a necessity dictated by economic conditions. The shift allowed the family to focus on a more sustainable and profitable form of agriculture.
Kenny’s primary motivation for getting involved in the farm was deeply rooted in family responsibility. His parents, who immigrated to the United States in 1983, did not speak English, making Kenny an essential part of the operation. Despite having aspirations of pursuing higher education in fields like medicine or biotechnology, family obligations and the passing of his father in 2008 kept Kenny tied to the farm. His goal has always been to stabilize and grow the business, ensuring its sustainability for future generations.
